The cortijo
El Cortijo San Francisco is an Andalusian country house in the hills behind Estepona, on the slopes of the Sierra Bermeja, on an estate of more than 80 hectares.
The British actor Stewart Granger designed and built it between 1973 and 1978, with the architect Manuel Camisuli.
It is only rented as a whole, with seven en-suite double bedrooms for up to 14 guests. For a wedding, the cortijo rents out its outdoor space, patios and pool area.
Our favourite spots and the best light
At Ana and Andrés’s wedding we photographed Ana in her dress in the library, among the books and the window light. Outside, the courtyard, the cobbled paths, the wooden doorways and the tiled fountain by the pool gave us the couple portraits, in warm evening light against the white walls.
Dinner was in a tiled patio among tall cacti, under string lights. We also took the couple down to the sea for a few portraits.
