Estepona is a town of whitewashed streets and flowerpots, with a red mountain at its back and Gibraltar on the horizon. It is quieter than Marbella and more lived-in, which is often why couples choose it.
For us it isn’t a location we drive to. We know which old-town streets still hold shade at five in the afternoon, how quickly the light drops behind the harbour and where the wind catches a veil on the seafront.
We work as a pair, so one of us can stay with you while the other is with your guests. Your photographs and your film come from the same eyes, so they tell the same story.
“Thank you so much! We couldn’t be happier!”

Cortijo San Francisco, Estepona
Tikitano, Estepona
A cortijo in our home town, where we told Ana & Andrés’s intimate Mediterranean wedding.
A restaurant right on Guadalmansa beach, between Estepona and San Pedro de Alcántara. Joaquín & Isabel got married in its garden, facing the sea.
An 18th-century seafront fort fifteen minutes west, all weathered stone, brick and cobbles, with the beach just below. We’ve used it for post-wedding portraits, and it pairs well with a session on the sand.
There are beachfront hotels on the New Golden Mile, beach clubs like Puro Beach and estates nearby such as Finca Cortesín in Casares. Send us your shortlist and we’ll tell you what to ask each one about shade and timings.
May, June, September and early October are the sweet spot: warm days, soft evenings and the sea still swimmable. July and August average around 31 °C, and when the terral, a hot wind off the mountains, blows, it can touch 38–40 °C. In high summer we plan ceremonies after 6 pm and portraits in the last hour of sun.
From the seafront promenade and the harbour mouth you look south-west to the Rock of Gibraltar, and on clear days to Africa; the sun itself drops behind the hills to the west. Expect sunset around 9:40 pm in mid-June, 8:30 pm in mid-September and 7:45 pm in mid-October; after the clocks change in late October, an hour earlier.
This end of the coast feels the Strait: the easterly levante can blow for days and lift veils, while the westerly poniente usually brings clear skies.
Dates to think twice about: Holy Week (21–28 March 2027), the town’s Feria in early July and 16 July, when the Virgen del Carmen is carried out to sea. Streets close and hotels fill.
Gibraltar Airport is the closest, about 35–60 minutes away, with easyJet from Gatwick, Manchester, Bristol and Birmingham and British Airways from Heathrow. Since 15 July 2026 there are no routine checks at the La Línea border; passports are checked at Gibraltar Airport instead.
Málaga Airport is 50–65 minutes away by car, with direct flights from more than 20 UK airports, Belfast included, and from Dublin, Cork and Knock. A transfer costs roughly €85–115 per car.
Guests can stay in boutique hotels in the old town and marina, in the four- and five-star resorts of the New Golden Mile, or in villas in the hills. For an inland venue, book a coach and block rooms 9–12 months ahead.
Our favourite places for portraits: the Plaza de las Flores before 10 am, the flowerpot streets around calle Real, the seafront at sunset and the lighthouse at Punta Doncella. For a pre- or post-wedding session, Los Reales de Sierra Bermeja looks across to Africa on clear days; it is a protected natural area, so we check drone rules there in advance.
Yes, if you want something calmer and more local. Estepona has its own old town, beaches and estates, and Marbella is 20–30 minutes away for guests who want a night out.
Gibraltar is closer, but has fewer flights and the odd diversion when wind or fog close in. Málaga has far more routes from the UK and Ireland. Put both on your wedding website.
Not as non-residents: a civil wedding in Spain requires at least one partner to live here. Most of our couples sign at home and hold a symbolic ceremony at a beach club or hotel. Gibraltar is the other option: a short legal ceremony with a Special Licence and a night there, then the celebration in Estepona. Details on our FAQ page.
Yes. The old town is quietest early in the morning or in the last hour of light. The Orchid House has its own opening hours and rules for professional shoots, so we check them with the staff before your session.
No. Estepona is home, and there is no travel charge anywhere in the province of Málaga, nor in Sotogrande.
